Christmas

Wow, December flew by! This is the first year Landon has been interested in Santa & boy was he interested! He's been pointing out every single holiday item he sees since Thanksgiving. He got super excited to see Santa, reindeer or anything else representing the holiday on tv. At the sonic drive thru one night, he even declared the checkout person Santa because she was wearing a red santa hat. He knew Santa brought presents, had reindeer & said Ho Ho Ho. We didn't even attempt visiting Santa last year because I knew it would've been a disaster, but this year he got excited when we asked if we wanted to go see Santa & take a picture with him. We went to Bass Pro Shop in Grapevine for their Santa Land event. There were all kinds of toy trains, cars, crafts & fun things for the kids to do. Landon even got to go for his first carousel ride while we were there. We waited in line for Santa & he was literally jumping up & down to see him. When our turn came he ran towards the big guy saying "Santa!" Just when I thought 'wow, this is amazing' he came to an abrupt stop out of Santa's reach & stared at him doubtfully. We coaxed him into a high five, but putting him on his lap started the tears. To be fair this Santa was a little strange looking, so I might've given him the side-eye too. Oh well, maybe next year.

We went to see Darren at the fire station on Christmas Eve & Landon couldn't get enough of the fire truck. He's in an 'I want to drive' stage so of course he had to drive the fire truck too. He got a big kick out of watching the lights flash & kept saying 'turn the lights on'.

The next day he had a blast opening presents at our house & then at Mimi & Grandpa's. Gone are the days of us having to help him unwrap. Now he rips through them like it's a timed-event. With 5 grandkids on D's side of the family there was a room full of flying paper when they started opening presents. It was such a fun holiday. We loved seeing the pure joy & wonder Landon had for all the little things we take for granted as adults. It's nice to see the holidays through a child's eyes again. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas & a great start to the New Year!

Santa brought him some big-boy undies! (Apparently he thinks they're for keeping your ears warm.)
